Pre and Post Care

Pre and post care are key to getting the best results from electrolysis. Prepping your skin helps treatment go smoothly, while aftercare supports healing and keeps your skin healthy. A little extra care makes a big difference!

Pre - Electrolysis Treatment

💧 Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate!

Drink plenty of water and stay hydrated the week of your appointment, especially the day before and day of. Well-hydrated skin = better treatment success.

🧴  Prep the Canvas!

Keep the area moisturized in the days leading up to your session; gently exfoliate the skin a few days prior to treatment.

🐝 Soften the Sting

  1. To keep things as comfortable as possible, try to avoid stimulants like caffeine before your session.

  2. For women, it’s also best to avoid scheduling treatments during your period or in the three days leading up to it, since hormone changes can increase sensitivity.

  3. Avoid blood thinners like alcohol and aspirin the night before and day of your appointment, as they can increase the risk of pinpoint bleeding.

🌱 Let it Grow!

Let the hair grow long enough to be easily grasped with tweezers—ideally about 3–5 days of growth.

🚫 Retinoid Free Zone!

If you use retinoids, be sure to stop at least one week before your appointment—these products can make your skin more sensitive and prone to irritation during treatment! Electrolysis must be postponed 6m to 1yr after stopping Accutane treatment.

✨ Hands Off!

No touching, scratching, or picking—seriously. Your skin is healing, and your hands can transfer bacteria, causing breakouts or irritation. If scabs or whiteheads show up, let them be and they will heal.

❄️ Cool It Down

Reduce redness and swelling with a cold compress (ice wrapped in towel) — 10 minutes, up to 3 times a day. Your skin will thank you.

💧 Be Gentle

Skip hot baths, saunas, pools, and intense workouts for 48 hours. Warm water only, please! And if we treated your face, go makeup-free for 24 hours and wash gently—no harsh soaps or heavy creams.

💊 Keep It Clean

Apply a soothing antiseptic like Polysporin or Bacitracin to any sensitive spots for the first 48 hours. Keep the area clean using a mild, fragrance free cleanser.

🌞 Shade Mode

Sunscreen is your best friend, please be sure to use it! Stay out of direct sun exposure for at least 48 hours post treatment to avoid pigmentation.

📅 Book It & Don’t Tweeze!

Snag your next appointment early to stay on schedule—and if hair pops up before then, shave or clip with cuticle scissors, but do not tweeze or wax! We need that follicle intact.

👗 Keep It Comfy

If we treated an area on the body, opt for loose, breathable clothing afterward. Tight fabrics can rub, irritate, and slow down healing—let your skin chill in peace!
